Newcomb and Company was founded in 1954 by Charles A. "Bo" Newcomb. Bo started the
company to primarily sell and service residential HVAC systems, but the Company has
now grown to become a full service mechanical contractor covering the residential,
commercial and industrial fields for the Triangle and Charlotte regions of North Carolina.
In the summer of 2004, Newcomb and Company expanded its operations into the Wilmington market.
Newcomb and Company began in a 1,500 square foot building in Raleigh. While the building was under construction, the business operated outside with a telephone on a utility pole in front of the office. From our humble beginnings, we outgrew that building and now the Raleigh operations are conducted from a 70,000 square foot facility. We have a successful Charlotte branch and an emerging presence in Wilmington. The true strength of the firm, however, relates more to growth in personnel than in physical property. Newcomb and Company now has more than 200 employees and continues on its path of dynamic growth and expansion.
The company remains family owned and is in the second generation of the Newcomb family. Robert Newcomb, the Company's President, has managed the company since 1991 and has emulated his father's commitment to quality, integrity and expertise.
Newcomb and Company fills a unique niche in the mechanical contracting industry since it has a NC Limited Engineering License, which allows the Company to offer engineered design-build drawings for the commercial clientele of North Carolina. Our staff of sales engineers has over 100 years of combined experience in designing and overseeing company construction projects. Our job management approach is also unique because the sales engineer who quotes the project also manages the construction project. This allows for continuity in the estimating and production areas of the project and gives the general contractor or owner a one-person contact for all of their project management concerns.
Newcomb and Company also services the units it installs for commercial clients. The Company offers commercial service agreements designed to keep buildings operating efficiently and trouble free, allowing tenants and employees to work more efficiently and productively.
The Residential Division of Newcomb and Company has been a Carrier dealer since 1954.
Carrier is known world wide to be an industry leader in residential products. Newcomb
and Company has been presented Carrier's James A. Rider Award 20 of the 28 times it has
been presented. This award is presented to the leading Carrier dealer in North Carolina
on an annual basis. In 2001, the Company was awarded the Carrier Distinguished Dealer Award.
This is the highest business honor bestowed by the Carrier Corporation to its dealerships.
In 2003, Newcomb and Company was the first Carrier dealer in the Carolinas to meet the
requirements to become a Carrier Factory Authorized Dealer. These accomplishments are due
mostly to a strong commitment to customer service, quality and workmanship. The Company
also received the Pinnacle Award from the Greater Raleigh Chamber of Commerce in 2005 in
recognition for it customer service and quality business practices. Newcomb and Company
also provides installation, warranty, maintenance and repair service for residential customers.
No job is too large or too small. We offer our residential customers a service agreement program
to protect their investment in their heating and cooling systems and currently have over 2,500
residential service agreement customers. Customers with service agreements receive priority
service as well as discounts on parts and labor for any repairs made to their system.
